    Real Treat

A very good friend of mine collects & restores Harmony guitars. He has a real passion for the 1260 model. I'm not sure how many he owns but it would be a lot. Today I went out with him for a while on his vintage boat & at the end of the trip he hands me this case & said enjoy I don't really care when I get it back I fix em' & send them out into the world.
I didn't open the case till I got home because it was raining cats & dogs. I came home & had a nice shower to warm up. Then I sat down & opened up the case. Wow! This is a 69 Sovereign 1260. the same guitar that Jimi Page used to record Stairway to Heaven. If you ever have had the chance to play one they are wonderful. Especially when he is done rebuilding them. I'm in love!!!

    Nice looking instrument, KC!

You got me wondering with the Stairway to Heaven trivia so I did some checking......and you're right. I always though Page did all the early LZ stuff with a Tele, but in this case most of the song is the Harmony. The electric solo near the end is a Tele and a Fender XII. Apparently Page used that SG doubleneck when they played it live.

I bet that Harmony just sings......
"I know just enough to be dangerous....."

    Wow, Congratulations, KC....
some would argue that the guitars have some magical influence
with regards to their long journey from one set of hands to the next,
(ala the Red Violin, an awesome movie, btw)

But I bet it's more to do with You,
and Your friend's generosity and foresight.

You are one lucky fella, Bruce.

    Enjoy that guitar!
I bought a relic'd guitar because I liked the way it sounded. Then I refinished it because I didn't like the way it looked.

Man, I'd forgotten about that flick - I used to have it on VHS, then DVD. Then I started loaning it out to friends with a "You gotta see this!" and somehow never got it back. Great film!
