    In a people house
At the very least a volume pedal is a great way to kill your volume between songs (or parts of songs you don't play during)--in case you hit the strings or want to tune. (Although some volume pedal kill the volume as well.)
And so while I do use mine for volume swells as well--the main reason I use it when I play in church is to turn down my volume between songs--yes I have a volume knob--but it isn't the easiest to use for volume swells--and it is easier to get a consistent volume with it.

For dynamics I pick softer or harder.

but this device gives you cool sounds...
I've been a pilgrim on this earth, since the day of my birth, I'm a long way from my home.
