Gimmick or useful accessory for acoustic guitars?

    I'd like to try one...

    Did you watch the videos?
Despite the name this is not an amp, they mic the guitars so that they can record it for the video--but you could use this with just a guitar, no amp or mic.
It's an effect for the acoustic sound of the guitar.

It could be fun & useful in some contexts--so I'd like to try it

Well it's not all about you...

But fair enough--but if you decline to use something it's good to know what it is.

This may just be a gimmicky thing--or it might actually be useful--so I would be interested in checking it out.

Does anybody else have any opinions? thoughts?

Certainly not, although you did ask "gimmick or useful accessory"...

    yes I did--just making a bit of a joke.

But if someone showed up with one--wouldn't you like to give it a try?
I'm pretty much open to trying all sorts of gear stuff--even things that seem ridiculous--sometimes it turns out I like it.

Sure if someone showed up with one I'd probably give it a tire kick. Although I have to admit my Dr. Z amp came with a pedal (volume?) that I have never actually tried out- I have no idea what it does.

If it's just a switch it could be for something on the amp--like reverb/tremolo/etc.
If it's like a volume or wah pedal where you can depress it more or less--then it may be a volume pedal indeed--or an expression pedal.

You should give it a try.

Probably a volume pedal- I will have to try it out. Even if I don't use it for volume I could use it as a between song kill switch for tuning
