New life to an old amp.

Last week I put my old Peavey MKIV head on the bench until we play some bigger gigs when it will be needed. Tonight, while doing laundry, I looked over at it, grabbed a screwdriver and nut driver and gutted it. I then proceeded to tear off the tolex. Next step is to go over all the solder joints with a magnifying glass, check everything out with a volt meter, replace any burnt or bad components and clean out the dust and other things that started growing in there since 1982. I'm going then attempt to put on new tolex and basically have a new old amp.

"go over all the solder joints with a magnifying glass,"

I've seen my tech just fire up his iron and touch every solder joint.

After seeing the new 350 watt ampeg portaflex for $299 I decided to scrap the antique and wait on an Ampeg.

ah okay we are talking 2 different things!
I thought you meant the handwired portaflex fliptop B-15N that Ampeg announced at NAMM this year.

Ampeg Limited Edition Heritage Series B-15 30W 1x15 Tube Bass Combo Amp and more Bass Amplifiers at GuitarCenter.com.

I was going to say if they dropped the price from $4000 to $299 I am buying two tonight
