I remember in junior high taking aptitude tests that would say I should be a forest ranger or conservation officer--because I liked going backpacking & hiking up mountains & stuff like that--but I didn't want to do that for a living--that was a getaway, a break, a reprieve from my regular life.
I wanted to do something with music, butt hat never showed high on the tests because they lumped musician in with dancers, choreographers & often visual arts as well--areas I had no interest in.

While there are people who make crazy money off of music--percentage wise they are in the extreme minority.
There are others who do live off music--but they live much more humbly.

Yep, you have the top tier musicians who make millions and then you have "everyone else" who makes $100 a night (for example)

I do know of people who do support themselves primarily through music--they do not live extravagantly, but they do well enough to be comfortable.
But that is rare in Canada.

I meant more rare here than other places--including the US.

In Canada you can have a platinum album & still need a regular job.

The population is approximately 10% or so of the US's--so much smaller market--but we probably have more than 10% of the bands as the US.
