If I had huge sums of money I am certain I would establish trusts and have an income paid out to myself to ensure that the capital was not being touched. I doubt I will ever have the problem of being rich enough that I need professional money managers and lawyers to assist in this.

If I had too much when I was young I would probably wasted a lot of it--even though my Dad tried to teach me better...

I wasted money when I was a teenager for sure but not enough to really get me in trouble

If I didn't have money I dealt with that--if I had it I spent a lot of it--mostly on music related stuff (Especially recorded music & concerts--as well as some gear...)
(If only I'd saved more of the junk food money & spent it on gear...)

In many ways I was probably fortunate not to have a lot of disposable income as a teenager because I would have squandered it

Back to the original topic- any other thoughts about getting paid to play?

Well how you handle it is important

But as to getting paid to play--it's much better than paying to play.
If musicians undervalue themselves it's difficult to get value in the future

    Good topic.

I absolutely refuse to pay to play. There are some music festivals around here where there is an application fee. Application fee???

Glad you refuse that--it ruins it for everybody--including the audiences...
It could be its own thread.
