Hey dB-check out the sweet Gibson ES125 on the local Craigslist!

I just happened to browse through the Craigslist and found this 1954 ES 125. It looks a lot like the archtop you have-isn't yours a Guild?
Anyway I wanted to share it with the people in the forum..

thanks for posting- that's a real beauty! I love those non-cutaway archtops- considering these were "student models" at the time they are amazing...

As soon as I saw the CL post I sent it to Axe-Talk, I'll always have a place in my heart for those Gibson archtops. It looks to be in amazing shape-its even older than I am!

Here is a modern affordable alternative:
    Godin Guitars
    $500 in Canada

Godin's are brilliant. I'd own one...I've had a line on a couple of their Junior-type solidbodies, and they really are great-playing guitars. I just wish they didn't carve such bloody unattractive bodies! Of course, their trad-look axes don't have that issue, and really are good axes. If you spot them in US pawnshops, they're usually valued at least a third less than what they get - and get easily - in Canada. Real sleepers.

If you want to play a real treat check out a vintage Gibson ES-150 if you can find one- they are unreal. I played one from the mid-40's, 17" non-cutaway. The tone was huge.

Those Godin Kingpins are pretty nice but they are no match for a true vintage archtop like DB is talkin about. I was kinda lookin at one of those until I got my 51 Monty Ward all set up. Im not concidering one now
