    what order?

I've thrown together pedal boards in the past but never took the time to put them in any particular order. I plan on putting one together this weekend with the following pedals; distortion, compressor, eq, delay and chorus. Any ideas on how to line them up?

Try them in all sorts of order.
See what works--there are general rules, but ultimately they sometimes sound good broken--it all depends on your gear, music style, and how it sounds when you put it all together.
In general people say to put a wah before a distortion--but since I have more than one distortion and I have an auto wah pedal (Boss AW-3) I put a distortion before it, and one after it--so I can wah the distortion or distort the wah--or both.

Zontar - that's a great idea with the two distortion units.

Stan - of the pedals you listed, my suggestion would be:
    1) EQ
    2) Compressor
... these shape your basic tone, upon which everything else is built
    3) Distortion
    4) Chorus
... these "color" the tone for effect (arguably the distortion could be counted in the first group, depending on how fundamental a distorted tone is to your sound)
    5) Delay
... 'cause it takes what you've built up and bounces it around in time.

Yup, you've got to road test them before you'll know for sure. I think Teleblooz called it pretty close though.

Okay, I took some scrap plywood and leftover tolex from an amp refurb and built a pedal board. I started with a BOSS Metal Zone, Behringer Echo Machine (delay on steroids) and a DOD Equalizer. The equalizer was bad so I returned it and the only thing that caught my eye for an even exchange was a Behringer Ultra Wah. I will add a compressor and chorus as the used deals come up at my usual stops.

Tried in all combinations and decided I like the effects before the distortion.

Checked my email this morning and there was a $10 coupon from GC waiting for me. So at lunch time I ran over to GC and picked up a DeltaLabs SC1 stereo chorus!! The pedal board is growing.
