    Guitar Stands for Gigs

After trying numerous guitar stands that were unsatisfactory because they do not stand up to the rigours or regular gigging, I started using the Hercules single stand with the folding yoke about 2 years ago. Generally these stands are good quality but after more than a hundred gigs with it I am now seeing a weakness in the design where the grabber mechanism is starting to loosen with increasing frequency, which probably means that the plastic housing that attaches to the metal rod is stripping.

I have no tolerance for "professional quality" products that do not last so I'm now thinking of moving to the K&M stands- their trumpet and trombone stands are top quality and made in Germany. I have no experience with their guitar stands however. Has anyone tried one of these out?

Any other suggestions for a really rugged single guitar stand for gigging?

Never tried them--I have a variety of brands--and most are decent.
I did have a Hercules clone that had the height adjustment break so it only works at the lowest height--but That's okay because I use it for my Mandobird and it's the perfect height.

Took a punt and bought 2 of the K&M memphis stands tonight- they should be here end of next week.

We'll see when they come. Actually I like the other Herculese stand but I am going to have to contact them about that failing part

Certainly--they do have a good reputation to uphold.

Hopefully not--but you never know--depends who you get.
I find if the customer service is outsourced they are less likely to understand the issues...

I had complained to Hercules some years back for a defective part that I needed to replace- they responded in turn by sending me a Hercules cheesecloth storage bag for the stand (????????)
