    The guitar is a dean ml with 3 tones and 1 volume and 3 humbuckers

    Hi, and welcome to the forum. I'm not a wiring expert, but I suspect the answer is to wire the tone pots to the pickups ahead of the switching and the volume pot between the output of the switch and the jack. You don't mention what kind of switching you're using, but if it's a Strat-style five-way knife switch, you could utilize the contacts on the opposite sides of the switch to connect the output wires of the tone pots. I think you'll run into situations using the 2 and 4 positions (where two pickups are in parallel) where the two tonepots connected to those pickups will also be in parallel which will have an impact on the sound. I looked for a diagram using three tonepots, but the only one I located uses three tones and three volumes, so it's not applicable. Best of luck with it.

    You say custom wiring... What are you looking to change from the original wiring?
