We have also practiced along with the recording as well--but since we added an extra instrumental section that won't take care of all of it...
But we'll see how it goes.

(And I have a mechanical metronome, electric metronome & an app with a metronome--as well as one on my little digital recorder.)

My recommendation is put it into a lead sheet format with repeats. Ignore the original recording form and agree on a form that everyone can follow.

Been there done that--which is what we had before & then we changed it after to match the changes we made in the arrangement.

yes--we are getting the groove down better--not just the bass, but hwo each instrument fits into that.

Well we played it on Sunday afternoon--and it went over well.
Lots of mistakes though--at least we could hear them.
But it was a song most people weren't familiar with & some of the lyrics were changed to be about the family we were saying goodbye to.
It was an emotional time as well, and that threw us off a bit.

But already some of us have talked about ding this again next time we have the chance.
And we have one such event in mind--with more time to prepare.

Well as long as they weren't clams that lasted a long time and huge disagreement in the band, most likely the audience had no idea.

Apparently somebody described it as "Epic"--fortunately we had a real good singer & the harmonica player was quite good as well.
No big egos--at least musically--we all had fun with it--and that is one thing that can go a long way to entertaining your audience--if you are having fun with it.

    A couple of people got it--the sound isn't that greta--but it's there.
ANd all I heard were the mistakes.

But that is also a valuable learning tool.

So the people there loved it--we got raucous applause, someone said it was epic, we had fun, & we learned some stuff

And we want to try again.

    All a round--I call that a win.
