    Carved Eagle Strat Clone

Hey every body. I'm new to this forum., but maybe someone can help me.I'm looking for a Strat clone from the late seventies. The body was carved to look like an eagle, and it was Aria, Yamaha, or Ibanez brand. Not sure which. Cool looking guitar. Can someone help?

Hello Mrguitar12 and welcome to the forum.

The guitar you seek is likely a Univox.

I have a Ripper, which is a Univox strat with big humbuckers.

I bought a relic'd guitar because I liked the way it sounded. Then I refinished it because I didn't like the way it looked.

That carved eagle Univox also came with the humbuckers (which is how I remember it).

And if those big humbuckers look familiar to anyone, Univox also put them in another guitar that has gained some popularity:

Thank you. I was having trouble getting my photos to show up that day, so I was trying different ways...

I know Ibanez made some carved body Strat copies as well as Univox-but Univox definitely fits the bill.
Aria would also--but both Univox & Aria back in that time were manufactured at the Matsumoku factory in Japan.
The guitars & basses made by Matsumoku had a large number of brands attached to them--often identical guitars were made with different brands--so the only difference was the name on the headstock.
Here's a link to an Aria carved with a dragon--the page also has a link to a Univox Eagle P-Bass-and was linked to by the link above--it's good blog for oddities and interesting guitars.
