Some apps just tune standard tuning, some don't.
On my phone I have two that work for any tuning--and work well.

I have the PolyTune app & the iStroboSoft app
Neither one is free--but I have seen both go on sale.
One I did get free & the other I think I paid 99 cents.
But those were both on sale...

Personally I think a decent clip tuner is a lot easier to use than a smartphone

I was going to mention them--but the question was about smartphone apps--if you already have a smartphone though, why not check out the apps?
I do use a Snark more often than the apps myself.
But the apps work better for checking intonation.

SOme overlap with the first list--but some unique to this list--not sure about all of them.

But hey--why not--I kind of want to try the open minor tuning.
