Got a job offer this morning

I got a job offer this morning.

I've been spending a few hours tinkering with projects at the place I retired from. They made an offer of a 4-hour/day weekday shift from 7AM-11AM. I'm really torn about whether this would be a good thing.....On one hand, I'd be committing to having to be there every day, and getting up at 5AM to do it.

Ultimately, because of the ramifications of pension and car insurance, I'd be a couple of hundred bucks ahead every month if I commit to the job. I'm on the fence about it right now. I know 200.00/month would come in handy, but I can't decide whether it's worth sacrificing my every-day vacation. I'd prefer to just play at working when I feel like it....

Hmm--it depends on how well everything else holds out--would you be able to work different hours?
I've been a pilgrim on this earth, since the day of my birth, I'm a long way from my home.

I was thinking the same thing- can the times be flexible?

Personally I'd probably like the offer if the hours could be changed, not just because of the money but because it gets you out of the house and among people

Not much chance of the hours being flexible......They need me to dispatch the installation crews from 7AM to 9AM and to unload deliveries from 9AM to 11AM. I still don't know what to do long term, but for now, I'm doing it.

It was a tough day today. The first really hard work I've done in a year, and at 65, it'll take a little while to get all the kinks out.

Actually, it feels great. I have to admit that I feel a little bit like I lost a bad fight, but that's sort of to be expected. This is the sixth time I've worked for this company, and every time I start, it hurts till I get used to it. It just seems to be taking longer each time as I get older. But, I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment.
