I wanted to say that I'm glad the media finally seems to have gotten tired of beating this horse. It doesn't get mentioned nearly as often these days.

I did find CBC's program yesterday quite interesting....Discussions of the methods police are using to test people for drug-impaired driving. It sounds a bit like smoke and mirrors - The roadside checks appear to be subjective and officer's discretion rather than being based in any hard science.

The one thing that seems regrettable about the whole thing is that people have gotten so wrapped up in the recreational aspect of it that medical marijuana users are really taking a back seat. The only news item I've heard today is related to the shortages of product for medical use. It does appear that despite the long lead time we had to deal with the coming legalization, there's an obvious lack of preparation to address things like availability for medical use (which I think should have been a priority), and adequate testing methods for impaired driving.

At least some of the medical marijuana is THC reduced or THC free--based on what I have heard from people who have the proper certification for medical marijuana--it's other ingredients that help them
So that shouldn't see a shortage.
Unless supplying the recreational users has caused the medical supply to be neglected

There's continuing TV news coverage of the shortage of medical product, and they're forecasting this shortage will continue until some time next year. It's a difficult problem, because medical users are hooked to a specific grower and can't change suppliers easily.

You're right, zontar.......It's not always about THC content. The person they used as an example on tonight's news is someone who uses a non-THC product, and I know several people who are afflicted with seizure disorders who are utilizing non-THC products. It's quite remarkable to see someone who used to suffer up to 100 seizures per day and is now down to about half a dozen more-manageable incidents with the help of a cannabinoid-based medication. Going and buying retail pot over the counter isn't a practical alternative for them. They don't want to get high....they just want health. Most medical users require a specific strain to deal with their situation.

It's still hard to know from the news information whether the shortage is being blamed on the legalization process, but apparently the supply problems coincided with 420 day on October 17th. The only encouraging news is that legislation is being expedited that will help expedite solving the situation and assure that it won't reoccur.

And how much of it is just media hype to pump up views, ratings, etc.

I noticed on another forum that marijauna's legal as of today in Massachusetts. It'll be interesting to see how the whole thing evolves there. Any AxeTalkers up that way that can give us the scoop?
