What a great story! I have no experience with Dr Z amps but I don't recall ever reading a negative review.

I've posted pix of this guy before but I think I have to say this is my favourite amp of all I have owned.

Sano? I thought I'd seen everything. Two EL 34s? What does it sound like?

My pedal steel amp. Started life as a Quad Reverb that had been cut down to two speakers. Belonged to the lead player in Gary Lewis And The Playboys. Same as a Twin. Got cabs made by Rick Johnson. Twin faceplate, Blackfaced to some degree. A few cap changes, but set up to play very clean. JBL speaker. Got the Tolex, piping, and grill cloth from Dr Z, to match my Maz Jr.

This is the '62 Super that I traded the Ric 12 string for. The reverb unit is a modern reissue, but my tech modded it to the old tubes and specs. The amp has Vibrate-Oh! to die for!

My Dr Z Prescription. The only one built with a master volume on the back. It was scarin' my catz when I turned it on!

The Maz Jr. Second one made. All of my Z amps have the Celestion/Vox Bluebell 12" speakers.

    am I in amp heaven?

those amps looked like they will kill me in one strum! I don't mind getting my face melted by one of those!
