    Hand Wired Goodness

I'm old fashioned. I want tubes and I want to know who done it!

Tweed, it's FAT, rich and nice but turns nasty with a flick of the guitars volume knob.

    Gries 35, black face sweetness!

    Show yer stuff!

    Late Forties Gibson BR-1
'52 Pro Amp, very rare non-Tweed amp, gray machine tool paint. Seen 3 in my life, mine, a 52 Twin and '52 Super
'56 Pro Amp, been in most of the studios in Cleveland, abdo-lutely a killer!
Traded the '58 Bassman for a '57 Strat
'62 Super, my favorite Vibrate-Oh! amp
'64 Vibroverb, with the Jensen. Had my choice, but the Jensen was better with my Tele
Mid Seventies Princeton Reverb, modded to 20 watts, 12" Celestion
Twin in a split cab for pedal steel, 15" JBL
Airline 9003, forgot I even had this little sucker!
    Hiwatt Lead 30, California amp
Dr. Z Prescription, older model, Celestion Blues, Master volume in back (Told Doc it was scarin' my cats)
Dr. Z Maz Jr, Green, Celestion Blue
    I know I'm forgetting a few.
Bought them ages ago when prices were right.

    OK, Here's mine:

It started out looking like this - a Bogen Challenger CHB-100 PA head:

I rewired the preamp to sound more like a guitar amp and built a combo cab.

Very cool! It's nice you have the skills to create something like that.

And the little Fenton Weil. A one trick pony! Like your conversion! I have a few old PA heads upstairs awaiting conversions.

I also forgot to list the heavily modded Delta Blues that I mentioned in the Amp Mod section. Also forgot the '91 Deluxe Reverb that I got in trade from Neil Zaza. It's one of those light tan Tolex jobs. Put a '60s Jensen in it, and good NOS tubes, and it sounds great!
About the Dr Z Maz Jr; Known Doc for some years. One day, when he was finalizing his design for the Jr, he asked me to stop in with my '57 Strat. I sat there and riffed whilst he subbed parts in and out. All I did was say yeah or nay to some of the sounds I was hearing. Doc did everything, I did nothing but play. But the Maz Jr. amps are tailored to the sounds of my '57 Strat.
