Sold one of my Z amps

Sold my Junior w/reverb yesterday, to a dear friend. The singer from my last band. He's been buggin' me for it for 10 years. It was the first one made with a 12" speaker. Number 5, first week of production. Doc called me in to his shop one Saturday to play my '57 Strat through the prototype Jr he was finalizing. I didn't do much but play. In the end, we were both very pleased! I headed for Florida the next day, but was on the phone to Doc by Tuesday, ordering an amp. Although the proto was the 2-10" version, Doc knew I loved 12" Celestion Vox Blue speakers, so he built one in my favorite color, Green! Wonderful amp! My buddy gigged it last night, and called me as soon as he got up, to thank me again. I'm glad it's gone to a good home, as it has some history. Joe Walsh borrowed it to play at his induction into the R&R Hall of Fame. Neil Zaza recorded with it.

I've never sold an amp, so I've never had to see one go--but if it goes to a good home, that helps, I suppose.

Hard to see it go. Custom made for me. But I need to thin the herd drastically. Still have a dozen or so.

It's tough to let a piece of gear go, particularly when you still love it. How did you make the decision?.......Was it based on how much play time things are getting or is there another criteria?

I have a coworker just pick up a Z head at a mom n pop in Cleveland. It's going in for a master volume mod soon. He's already putting it ahead of his Mesa for his gigs,
I don't play guitar because I'm good at it, I play because it's fun!!
