    Single Ended Quest

    Hi guys.
I've been putting together my dream amp for a year now & it's finally done !
I'll probably tweek it a bit but who knows.
Over the years I've had several Champ amps but always ended up selling them.
They are one trick ponies & they don't have enough balls to gig with.
Oh sure I know if you put one through a 4 x 12 it's plenty loud.
I don't want to carry a big cab so I went with a big Champ instead.
It'll run many different tubes and I have a lot of them in my stash.
It's between 15 and 30 watts depending on the tube compliment and I have several cabs that I can run through it.

    Thanks.
She's a bit heavy at 36 #'s but the tone is amazing both clean and overdrive.
I have a lot of old american tubes in my stash that for one reason or another don't go in my Tweeds.
    In the pic I am running a new production Shuguang KT88 with a 6L6G from the 40's & a 6K6 from the 60's.
Really pretty clean sounds & overdrive like no stompbox or model can ever achieve.

Nicely done, JJ. I like how modular it is.

Did you wire the amp yourself? And if so, care to share pics of the inside?
I bought a relic'd guitar because I liked the way it sounded. Then I refinished it because I didn't like the way it looked.

    Not Me

    No,I'm a tinkerer,not a builder.
2 friends I've made on the internet are the culprits.
Both are players. One is a builder & one is a tinkerer with an EE degree and a lifetime of design experience.
It was cool during the year long process to interject idea's that didn't occur to them since I was coming from a less technical background.
The toughest part was getting to display the tubes up front on such a small footprint.
I have a good stash of old american tubes to play with.

    Beautiful inside and out.

Um - don't take this amp to any bars where they patrons like to throw beer bottles.

    Thanks die.
The tubes are in SERIES,not parallel,so they don't have to match.
    MANY combinations are possible.
The big tubes,of coarse, have fabulous cleans as expected but they also give up unreal overdrive.
You can't get that kind of overdrive from a pedal.
